My Story
“I remember the first time I stood at an easel. I was five years old, in kindergarten in Fort Worth, Texas. My family was home on furlough from the mission field in Colombia, South America.
I didn’t know it then, but something quiet and lasting began in that moment.
Life moved on, as it does. I never thought of myself as an artist. I loved color and design, and worked in those industries for a few years.
During the pandemic in 2020, I bought a small Crayola paint set for my grandchildren and painted a picture of a pink zinnia from my garden. Something stirred my heart and I have been painting ever since.
Now, painting feels like coming full circle.
A small beginning at five… rediscovered decades later.
I’ve learned this: sometimes the things planted early in us don’t disappear—they simply wait until we’re ready to begin again.”
My Bio
Karen Clark resides in Athens, Georgia. She began her art career after many years in the home decor and design industry. As a home stager and color consultant, she developed her eye for clients needs. Karen realized beautiful original art can change a whole room. Providing art for collectors and the real estate market is now an outlet for her skills.
In 2017, Karen wrote a children’s book Big Changes For Little Bugs. She saw how the destruction of several hurricanes impacted families and homes. Karen hired an illustrator who was able to capture her vision for the book. The art was so impactful and healing that it led to Karen’s desire to pursue her own art career.
During the Covid-19 pandemic she took online art courses and realized her God-given love for color and design could be expressed through her art. Art can heal painful moments and many pieces are inspired by her life. She uses her imagination to create one of a kind florals and abstracts to fill homes with color and mixed media textures. Oil and collage are her most used mediums
Karen graduated from The Milan Art Institute in 2026. Her passion for color comes to life in her mixed media paintings. The Mastery Program has allowed her to fulfill her love of color and design in the most creative ways. She incorporates collage and spray paints to enhance her art. She has hidden pieces of old family letters in her paintings from her years in Colombia, South America. These special messages add meaning and a piece of Karen in every design. Collectors will be surprised to find these special mementos under layers of colors.
Karen is a member of the Oconee Cultural Art Foundation (OCAF) in Watkinsville, Ga and The Artisan Village Guild in Eatonton, Ga.
